About Us (ArtNomads) & ArtAdventureTravel.com
Hi and welcome to our world. Or at least, what we see & experience of our shared planet.
Just who ARE your friendly ArtNomads?
We’re Scott & Amy, a late-50s 60s couple who were bitten by the travel bug 20-plus years ago. Before going nomadic, we’d been fortunate enough to visit 18 countries besides the USA and Canada.
We sold everything and hit the road in August of 2023, and have been nomadic ever since. Since then, we’ve visited 20, of which 14 were new to us.
Want to know details? Here’s where we’ve been (2024, 2025).
We’re both creative professionals, having directed multiple art galleries, managed arts nonprofits, and engaged in Creative Placemaking.
In reading dozens to hundreds of travel blogs, we’ve yet to really find one that concentrates on the artistic side of travel, which is *our* passion.
Scott does (most of) the writing, some of the photography, and none of the image/video editing. He speaks English, un petit peu Francais, and is learning Spanish and Italian. He’s thrilled to wander ruins and try, with absolutely zero knowledge or training, to figure out what life was like “back then” for those inhabitants.
It’s Amy’s sensitivity to color, form (she’s a graphic designer and marketing professional) and attention to details/little things that balance Scott’s wider-angle view. It’s also Amy who guides the overall artistic vision of the photos & videos we share. Amy’s primary language is English, but she too is learning Spanish, in preparation for what we expect to be many years exploring Central and South America (See 2026 ).
This blog isn’t about us being “fabulous”. We’re not ‘beautiful people’, and you won’t find seventy-bazillion pics of us in swimsuits or posing with fancy cars. We’re sharing these experiences to hopefully inspire others to travel, learn and expand their understanding.
Along the way, we’ll share tips and gear we think would make your trip better, and what we think are the extra-special places, food, cultural events, and of course, art (including architecture) that make our nomadic life worth living and this planet worth exploring. If you can’t travel physically, for whatever reason, we hope you’ll travel with us in spirit.
We’ve started (and stopped) several other travel-blog efforts before, (Australia, 2009) (SE Asia, 2009) and will import some of that content here. Other trips we’ll share may have been taken quite awhile ago; we’ll tell you in each post when the trip was, and when the post was written/updated, as many experiences (and prices) may change over time.
By the way, if we sound like your type of people, and you’ve got pets or a house that need some company while YOU vacation, we’re happy to hear from you. We do have a THS profile. We haven’t done a lot of site because we’ve been moving so fast, and honestly, there weren’t many opportunities in Nepal, the UAE, Laos, etc.
Our Approach to Art & Culture Coverage
We don’t write about art fairs from the sidelines. We attend events like Madrid Art Week, Art Basel Miami Beach, and major international exhibitions in person—walking the floors, spending long days with the work, and talking to galleries, curators, and artists along the way.
Many of the fairs we cover require multiple full days on the floor—and we give them that time.
Our coverage is first-hand, independent, and honest—just informed opinions from people who actually show up, look closely, and share what stood out (and what didn’t).
